no headlights pug 106

hi alls,got a pug 106 k reg,for some reason i cant get the headlights to come on ive put a new switch on,tried fuses all seems well,if i put new bulbs in they come on for a while then bingo no lights again-as anyone got any ideas,i havnt tried the bulbs i have taken out to see if they have blown as im not sure how to?-any ides would be gratefull,thanks.
