For the last 6 weeks I have been constantly cold - more than the cold weather would explain. I am a 53 year old male who is generally fit and active. This started before Xmas when I woke up in the middle of the night shivering and with a temperature of 106. I was advised to go to A&E where they diagnosed a "flu-type infection" and prescribed strong antibiotics. The temperature quickly went back to normal but I have been constantly cold ever since. I sit in warm rooms with people wearing T-shirts, but I have about 4 heavy layers on and am still cold. My feet often feel like blocks of ice even after having been in a warm car.
circulation problems? My feet get cold and then the rest of me does, but not all of me simultaneously. You should see a dcotor about this one, or move to Barbados.
You may still have an infection that hasnt cleared up. Go back to you doctor. He should do a blood test and if you do have an infection it should show up in your white blood cell count. You might just need more antibiotics.
If you have a constantly runny nose it could be pneumonia. I hope not - if that is a symptom you must keep v.warm and feed up with porridge to strengthen you.
Wrap yourself in an electric blanket (plug it in beside armchair as well as bed) to burn out the infection.
I had liver problems about 9 years ago and ever since then I've found that I feel very cold most of the time and take ages to warm up - I also have diabetes and circulation in my hands and feet are not very good. I also live with my OH who is always like a toaster and we spend some time in the cat turning the heater up (me) and turning it down again(him)! I hope that you find a solution to your problem - have you lost a lot of weight or anything like that?
You really need to get back to your GP for some blood tests as burbie suggests,James. The virus could have left you with a number of things such as anemia etc. I sometimes suffer with low blood pressure which makes me feel very cold especially my feet and I have to drink more fluids.
