Rev unstable sometimes

I have a vauxhall zafira 1.8 petrol.The car runs fine in most cases but on the odd ocation the rev counter fluctuates up and down for about 30 seconds ,then stops when I pull up at the traffic lights.What could possibly cause this to happen? Can anyone help me Please?

there is a very good chance that it is your idle control valve
this is very common with zafira's but thankfully not to pricey to have the problem fixed pop to your local garage or give it a go your
