subaru legacy engine fault

Hi I just bought a 1995 2 litre subaru legacy It starts brilliantly from cold but refuses to start when its been running for a few minutes.The water temp is ok there is no sign of overheating and once its running the engine seems fine .
Does anyone have a clue what it is and how do I fix it.Your help would be appreciated thanks.
