Ah - ha the old idle control valve problem on a Calibra ! GM (Vauxhall) made a fortune out of me as I must have replaced mine 3 times before realising there is a cleaning method.

Flood it or bathe it in WD40/petrol overnight. I have never understood exactly what the problem is with these valves apart from the fact that when they go wrong they are a big pain. At �140 a time it is definitely worth the WD40/petrol method.

If you have the facility to bench test it - I.e. stick some volts across the electrical terminals excercise it a little after cleaning to ensure it is free in its movement.Make sure it's dry of any solvent before applying power.
