Hi, has anyone else found the steering on an S60 (diesel auto) very heavy. Have had this car for 5 years now and always found the steering lock to be awful, but now it is heavy on normal driving.
Its been checked by 2 dealers who cannot find anything wrong, and tyre pressures are ok.
Any thoughts????

Hi, You say that NOW on normal driving!! have you had a change of front tyres? where the tyre of equal measurements to the original? the reason I have said that, my neighbour bought some alloys off EBay he had the same problem the cause the tyres where too wide in-turn reducing the Turning circle of the car, do a visual check on the power steering steering area, is it dry? check the power steering reservoir is it up to the mark, the other things that could account to heavy steering, bottom ball joint on the lower suspension arms
To add, check the steering bellows, do they show signs of oil loss? but that should show up in the reservoir, lastly there is a steering coupling inside the bonnet as you look at the left side of the engine, although been know to seize up this needs to be checked.
