Vauxhall Astra MK3

I have recently changed the engine in my 94 MK3 Astra but the engine management lights comes on when i turn the engine over. Any ideas why this is?

It usually signifies a problem with the engine or ancilliaries, although i had my vehicle tuned recently with one of those engine diagnostic computers and was told that even if there was a problem that has now been rectified, the ecu light will still need resetting by a computer.
