Check the pipe to your fuel control valve, they crack in-turn letting more air into the system thus affecting the ECU.
As you have gotten to some fault code. High light this code or an arrow therewith ( on your diagnosis equipment) the screen should take you to some probale/s source of the misfire. Check each individual item /system out against specification .This may require you driving the car with diagnostic equipment connected while obtaining the actual readings so that as soon as the misfire accurs the readings that change will lead you to the source of your problem.

surely if it was injectors it would do it all the time...
Question Author
the garage did that but all they could say was multiple misfire - could it be lambda sensor?
I wish I COULD say yes jpspeed. But NO check out the oxygen sensor resistance first before you rule it out .In fact I WILL SUGGEST that once you have read the fault codes clear them before you retest so you do not pick out faults created by unpluging electrical connectors.
Question Author
would a lambda sensor cause a misfire?
is the spark plugs gapped to 1mm if not that could cause a misfire. or it could be the valves aren't operating properly(valve seats damaged, problem with camshaft or timing, the fuel mixture is too lean)
