I have a 2005 deisal vectra. Everything is fine until i take it into a garage and borrow a golf deisel for a week. Its only then that I realise that the warm up time on the vectra takes too long!! I am nearly at work (5 miles) before the heater kicks in. The golf is warm about 2 miles!! Is there anyway to remedy this or is it just the way the cars are made?? Thanks in advance for any info.

I've got a 2008 Diesel Vectra and don't have that problem....
The thermostat sticking open could be the cause. Years ago I bought a car that never came up to normal temperature, and found that someone had removed the thermostat. Probably been stuck closed and dumped rather than replaced. Back then you could get thermostats that operated at different temperatures as well.
