cost to change toyota car caliper??

Hi
Our 2004 toyota corolla failed it's mot yesterday as one of calipers has seized up, so they've having to change this plus brake pads.etc too
we took it toyota garage who have quoted us £750!

we have said no but what sort of cost should i expect?? I'm sure shouldn;t be this much.
I am going to call some garages tomorrow for quotes but any advice helpful.

Thanks for this;it's handy to know price, but want to get it done at a garage as i dont know a thing about chaging them. Do you know what sort of labour?

Hi Jenni ..
About 1/2 hour to replace and bleed the hydraulics.
If I were you, I would obtain the correct part listed on fail certificate and check exact model, and get someone local to fit it. If the garage doing job sources the part, expect to pay double the price for it.
Pretty easy job really .. only needs a wheel off .. nothing else except brake pads out.

I recently bought a new brake caliper off ebay for my Bmw for £75 + p+p and the pads for £20, unlike you i fitted them myself but it just gives you a little idea. I know prices will vary on your toyota but i cannot see a garage taking much longer than a hour to replace caliper and put pads in. If your very unlucky the disc may have warped on the faulty caliper side, which will mean a pair of brake discs as well.
