abs light

i have a citroen saxo vts,on a 98 s, the abs light came on yesterday so i checked the wheel senors,
one of the senors was not working so i cleaned it up then it worked,but still the light will not go out,
i've disconneted the battery for about an hour still no joy,then want for a spin still no joy,just wandering
if there is any thing else i can check,or is there a way of reseting the abs light.

Soory sov not an answer but will keep an eye on this because my daughter's car failed its MOT back in Feb just because of this and 4 garages, including the dealer (Daihatsu) have not been able to diagnose the problem, hence a decent car has been off road just because of the abs light.

A couple of years ago I had a Rover 75 and the rear wheel sensor had to be replaced. The abs light only went out after the system was reset with the laptop.

Perhaps the fault is not the sensor that you thought was faulty.

many vehicle warning lights have to be reset and possibly show any faults , doesnt have to be a dealer most garages now carry the equipment to do this..

That would be regarded as a safety system failure, and the fault is probably locked into the ecu.
You need to connect up for that on a Citroen machine, or a Scanner with correct module.

i checked the senors with a multimeter just to see if there was any power coming
through,but i will take it to a garage just in case its one or more of the senors
or something else.sorry prudie to hear about your daughters car ive heard
that some diagnostics machines cant read some codes but to have taken it
to 4 garages is a bit unlucky.

the abs light has gone out so hopefully thats a end to it.

Happy for you sov and you are right, the garages said they couldn't get the codes to register and Daihatsu suggested a new ECU at £700 but they couldn't guarantee that was the problem.
