Where is it? i.e. in the tank, under floor, how do you get to it?

Is that a Single Point injection (looks like a carburettor)? .. or multi-point injectors?
If you have a problem with starting and cutting out when cold with the SPi .. known problem.

thanks "Albags", yes it is single point injection and does have a starting problem. I had intended to give the fuel pump a tap [suspecting that it had stuck, vehicle not used for a while] but you suspect the spi unit, anything I can do with that?

There is a history of problems with starting from cold.
There is a water temp sensor on inlet manifold for the SPi. Has a large head. May well be worth replacing that.
The running then cutting out problem is due to over-fuelling. Engine starts then over-fuels and engine dies. Then almost impossible to start. A trick is to make sure plugs dry/clean, then try to start. If starts and dies, pull the fuel pump fuse (dash fusebox) until it will run again on the starter, then fuse back in.
Check the position sensor and electrical connections.

Thanks for the advice so far, but I'm still non the wiser as to the location of the fuel pump. Is it in the tank or under the floor, forexample?
