audi comfort module
5 Answers
took car in for diagnostics as the alarm was playing up, after this and having the wiring system checked i'm told that the comfort module has gone.
i've been told its an expensive part that has to be ordered from audi as it has to be programmed correctly for the chassis number (is this correct).
i have no knowledge of car alarm's apart from you press the button and it works, if this is correct it'll probably be cheaper to have an after market alarm system fitted rather than buy a new module.

(Check on the net or yellow pages) I used one of these specialists for something else (not an alarm fault) and they found a second hand part-much cheaper. In any case, a good, qualified, vehicle electrician might do a better job checking if the problem is just a poor connection? Also, what is the age of your Audi? If it is over 5 years old fair enough but if it is any younger you might try VAG UK HQ for a 'goodwill' contribution? Good Luck!
the car is 6 years old and what was happening is, when i locked the car the car locked , within 2 seconds the alarm was going off and could only get it shut up by driving the car for a minute, it wouldn't respond to the key what so ever.
i was going to either buy a new module of have a clifford or toad fitted as it may be cheaper to do this than buy a new module.
chas - i thought if i purchased a 2nd hand 1 i could have it re-programmed?
my knowledge on alarm systems is basically none existance.
