Just wondered, is it normal to change the clutch slave cylinder if there is a need to change the master cylinder? Haven't heard of this before.

This is far from an expert opinion but I used to work, delivering parts, for a Ford main dealer. The company had another branch which held a main dealership for Kia, so we occasionally had to deliver Kia orders. I certainly remember delivering both slave and master cylinders at the same time, so it's obviously not uncommon for them both to be replaced simultaneously.

A lot of cars have the slave cylinders inside the clutch housing these days . If your Kia has that arrangement then it makes sense to sort it at the same time as the clutch.,

An 'annular' slave cylinder.
Cannot be replaced without removal of transmission assy.
Replace this type when replacing clutch kit.
