Greenfield - Whit Friday Band Contest

We were at Greenfield last night for the band contest. A strange thing happened when a world famous band marched up the street; lots of people started booing them. I'm talking a FAMOUS band. If you've never heard of them, I don't know where you've been. However, I was also at this venue last year when they were here, but just as they finished their march, their bus ran over a man and he died on the spot. The driver saw him fall in front of the bus, stopped and turned his engine off, but this meant the suspension lowered onto the man and crushed him. If the driver had left the engine on, the man would probably have been ok. Naturally, the contest was suspended and the roads were blocked so no vehicles could get in or out. Later, members of the band were making crass comments on FB and Twitter about some idiot getting run over, which meant they couldn't finish their programme for the night. Perhaps it wasn't so strange that they were booed by lots of people. A little spoiler that on an otherwise really good night where we saw 35 bands. Well done Greenfield!

I remember that last year. We were in Uppermill on Friday, it was really good and according to the police there were only 7 arrests which was an improvement on previous years.

My step daughter played for Delph Band some time ago. We went into Delph today for the Beer Walk and a friend said it was quiet last night, not as many bands as usual.

so if thats the case and they were so much hated why not name and shame the band 10clarionst...if they did that then their behaviour is despicable and they deserve to be named and shamed in my opinion..because i have never heard of this incident..

how tragic...now im not a ''brass band'' and ''marching'' person but i have heard of the said band...if they did make awful comments then they deserve to be booed..how can they deserve anthing less????
