Current pride and joy at sunny-dave towers is my Honda XL1000 Varadero - mainly for summer touring (although it does get the odd outing on sunny winter days) - North Wales & the Peak District are my favourite haunts.
Hoping for a trip to the continent next year - applications for the pillion seat opening soon :=)

Yep the Vara is great -
big (at 6ft 2in I can just touch the ground!)
runs all day (and you can actually ride it all day too, unlike some 'sports bikes' which cripple you after a couple of hours)
only got a box on for day-to-day, but going looking for luggage at the NEC bike show in a couple of weeks time

I keep getting seduced into looking at all sorts of exotica - had a spin on a Kwak ZZR1400 a while ago - scared me s**tless - toooo much power and rubbish visibility in front and behind.
Didn't sound right either - sort of smoothy rather than growly (possibly because I was feather bedding it).
Transalps are good - my mate had one for a long while - nice riding position and not too 'tall' -although at 5ft 3in he did reckon that every time he stopped he had to decide which side to fall off ;)
