Kids On Scooters
40 Answers
What is it with kids riding scooters around supermarkets? Today in a smallish M&S my mum was looking at the food and a mother and her 9/10 year old kid came along. The kid was riding a scooter up the aisle and actually expected my my mum (an 82 year old) to get out of his way and the mother seemed to expect the same. Luckily mum stood her ground and they went around her. I`ve noticed scooters in Sainsburys too. The staff don`t seem to have the gumption or initiative to tell them to pack it in as whizzing up and down the aisles is dangerous.

But next time you go out shopping, look around you and see just how many wonderful, polite and well-behaved children there still are (with parents who help them to learn about acceptable behaviour in public). It's far too easy to notice a few youngsters who cause problems for others, while ignoring all of the good ones.

Its bad enough trying to maneouvre a shopping trolley around the aisles of a supermarket, let alone trying to avoid a brat with a scooter. I bet the mother of this kid would have screamed blue murder if he/she crashed into a display and hurt itself.
I would have said something, totally unacceptable to expect your 82 Mum to get out of their way. If the mother didn't like it, then tough, I would have shoved her into the freezer cabinet. Sorted.

In a similar vein, there's an elderly lady from somewhere in the north (Scotland) who uses a scooter to do her daily shopping. She says it's easier on her joints and her claims have been recently confirmed by a University study. I understand there's film of her scooting about on Youtube - possibly under Granny on a scooter or something similar.
