parked the car at work this morning as i'm walking in found £10 on the floor thought that's handy! do my work go back to car and find that the starter motor has had it great!! just managed to get to my local mechanic, gonna cost me just short of £200, the start of a great week NOT!!!
I'm no expert but £200 sounds a bit stiff. I've had mates who've picked up a refurbished one from a scrapyard for £15 and fitted it themselves.
Might be worth canvassing the opinion of tonyav and other posters on here who are knowledgable about cars.
My pc packed up yesterday and it looks like I'm going to have to get a new one! Don't know what to get and how much I need to spend. I just hope I can get my photos and stuff off the hard drive.
I'm very pc illiterate Chill so I don't know what I've got and what I haven't. My brother is an computer engineer and he'll be round tonight to check everything out and tell me whats what.
got car back earlier (mondeo) only problem is they disconnected the battery to put on new starter motor and now i have no radio as i need the key code which i do not have (searched everywhere) whats the next thing to do?
fords want an arm and a leg just to tell me 4 numbers of my code!
Have you got the car manual wallet Bernie? I had a similar problem last year when when my battery packed up and had to get it sorted out. I found the code in the manual wallet.
bernie, can you take the radio out of the dash, you may find that someone may have written the code on the radio. It's a pity that you didn't have more time to shop around for a new / used starter motor though.
hi tigger 1st thing i looked at nothing on it.
hi tony had to order some keys to put in sides of radio to get it out! gonna go down the lines you have suggested i know i could have probably got one cheaper tone but i needed my car for work this morning still its done now
poxy motors!! as you can see had a new starter motor fitted now its doing the same thing as it was before not turning over and making a clicking sound as luck would have it rac van was 2 doors down fixing their car and rac man said straight away its your battery mate its flat so its on charge fingers crossed it starts later! probably no need for new starter motor me thinks doh!!!
