Today I Dropped Into A Local Hostelry And......

...had great trouble getting to the bar, this was for two reasons...one I accept and one I have considerable trouble with......
Firstly.... a young mum and her pushchair and baby was right up against the bar. OK fair enough....
Secondly....a full size four wheel, twin headlight and rear view mirrored mobility scooter blocking up the rest of access. This scooter belonged to one of a party of four adults, but I couldn't figure out which one. One of the group hopped aboard and proceeded to turn the scooter round complete with beep-beep reversing sounds which had other pub diners shuffling and moving their seats so as to to get out off the way.
Question....Are mobility scooters allowed inside buildings, be them pubs restaurants hotels or anywhere else.

It's simple to screw up the owners who bring them into bars....

Just disconnect the battery and let the tyres down.....

FIL at age of 89 was refused permission to sit with his in outside seating of Wetherspoon's pub in Trafford Centre. So probably they can refuse access.

An old lady on a mobility scooter approached me in the pub earlier, asking for directions to the local Asda.

"Its only round the corner," I said, "I'll jump on the back and lead the way if you'd like madam".

She seemed to be in a bit of pain when we finally got there, so I jumped off her back and told her not to forget that she'd left her mobility scooter at the pub.....

The old guy who lived 2 doors down from me always went to the pub on his mobility scooter.........he could actually walk (although he's dead now)

liked it DT made me chuckle, they have tandem ones in the US and they are just beginning to sell over here ! so watch out folks next thing they will be using them as taxis !collect you at your front door take you shopping and bring you back home !

The answer is yes - if the doors are wide enough, they are not creating a fire hazard or danger and they have the discretion of the publican/manager......

i think they must be, at least in some of the pubs i have known in the past.

if you think they are motorised wheel chairs, and you wouldn't ban wheelchairs. so i believe the answer is yes you can, perhaps some pubs don't like them if they get very busy, but they can be parked up tucked into a space and the person finds a seat,

So there is no regulation just the decision of some very young numpty to allow this to happen at the considerable discomfort and inconvenience of their more senior clientele......

It appears to be the discretion of the pub owner/manager.

Some interesting perspectives here - the big one being that most scooter drivers can walk a bit - the issue being the safety of the scooter outside.

why would the mother have the pushchair and child at the bar, and no i wouldn't have them in pubs, i have never been a fan of children in public houses, not when i was a kid, nor now as an adult.
