I've a Vespa P125X that has been running perfecly until the weeked, where she used to start first kick it now takes four or five and once running there seems to be a lack of power, I can go along full throttle at about 30mph! and now and then it will zoom fast for a second then die down to 30mph.

I am very naieve when it comes to mechanics but are there any simple checks I can do to see why there is a problem?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Hi mate, I'm running a PX166 atm. I had this problem with one of my p200's, clean the air filter, (underneath the long plastic cover on the top of the engine) and also either check, or get a scooter shop to check the fuel lines, as these may be blocked, or restricted. Is it an auto lube model?

Question Author
Thanks for the reply Boywonder, no it is not an autolube.

Well, if it is not an autolube, it must be earlier that the mid 80's EFL model. All I can suggest is take the fuel line off of the carb, and check that sufficient fuel is coming through, and the line has not been blocked by crap that accumulates at the bottom of the tank. also, check the jet( take the air filter cover off, remove the filter, and it is the gold screw underneath,) check that that is clear, and the fuel jet. Apart from that mate, an hour of labour at a scoot shop should see it fixed, if it was running ok before hand.

Hope it gets fixed soon, Chris.

Thanks for the advice Chris, it is a early 1980 model. It ran ok on the way home from work yesterday and again this morning.

I'll wait until I've got sufficient tile this weekend and give it a strip down and clean etc.

Thanks again!

John
