7.5 tonne beavertail lorry

can you help...at work i normally drive 3.5t van
we now have a 7.5 t beavertail,because ive never
driven one of these will i need training to drive one
even though my license says i can

Technically, you can drive one if your licence has a C1 or above category on it. There is no other legal requirement, but I was told very early on in my driving career "if you don't know, don't be afraid to ask". You will certainly need to know how the beavertail works. You will also have to be aware that the turning circle will be much larger and beware of the overhang at the back. Tachograph laws will also apply to this vehicle, so you should know the relevant driving hours laws (your firm has a legal obligation to provide you with training if you don't know), how to fill in a chart or if its a newer vehicle fitted with a digital tacho, you will need to apply for a digital tacho drivers card (�38 I think).

sddsddean is correct but be aware if you tow a trailer that will take you over your 7.5 tonne permitted weight and you will need C1+E
