Lorry electric failure
1 Answers
I have a 1990 Leyland Roadrunner lorry with a 6 litre Cummins B series engine. Last night while going to fill it up with fuel, ( quarter tank left) it started perfectly, and drove about 100m with the lights on ( it was dark) before the engine cut out. There was no ignition lights, no power going to the tachograph, but by wiggling the ignition barrel in the steering column and other electrical wires, twice I got power to the tacho and when i turned on the ignition got warning lights and when started the engine ran for only 2-3 seconds before cutting out and again being left with no ignition lights. The headlights and indicators always worked. I am assuming that since the engine stopped after starting, it must have an electric fuel pump and that this is an electrical fault. Does anyone know where I should begin to look for the cause of the problem.
