Might be a model by Vincent
The only leather-clad Vincent I can think of was Gene.
Manx Norton?
I like it Naz saw him many times when I was a rocker!!!
The only bikes I can think of with 1000cc in the 50's are Vincent ( Black Shadow etc.) and Ariel Square Four. I don't think the Brough Superior was still in production ( but I may be wrong).
Having a leather cover on the tank could be an extra as it is now or home made.
vincent with leather tank covers are mentioned on this page

Non of my vincent 1000 photos show a leather clad tank but I am sure I have seen one with a leather tank cover. It could have been an after market product.
Dotty.. the manx norton was 650 cc I believe
Vincent.
Vincent Rapide -definitely
correction, Manx Norton was either 348cc or 499cc
Phoned my dad who confirmed what i said.I am from a biker family and my Dad has 2 classics and at 79 has been a biker all his days and he immediately said what I posted.
He has a Panther and a Triumph -both 50's cant recall the models off the cuff without phoning again and you know what old bikers are like....:)
