chuckfickens ... petrol

Hey, chucky
So, on the way to Gatwick today, I checked the price of petrol at the Rabbit Roundabout.
The BP station on the roundabout is 140.9 (for unleaded).
Curiously, the Esso station just down the road (into town) is only 137.9.
The next BP station out along the A23 is 139.9.
And the Shell station near the park is 134.9 !
So the Shell station about half a mile closer into town is 6p cheaper. I'd never noticed.
Having said which, the Shell station is really pikey.
I'm not stopping at a pikey petrol station just for the sake of 6p.

I only put Shell and one other, Chevron in my car as I am more than aware of additive technology and whose engines are the cleanest. There is one particular major brand I will avoid as i have seen at first hand the soot build up in their points and valves, and that translates to a mileage penalty. Shell in the States is now advertising a very "conservative" fuel economy gain on their Super....not over here yet for fear of the rival lawyers no doubt.

ladybirder ...
I have to admit, Brighton was pretty horrid this weekend. It was full of day trippers ... Friday was the worst day, for some reason. It was full of fat, white blokes, wandering around with no shirts on. Everyone was tattooed. The tarty women were down from London, with their "Gor blimey" voices. It was ghastly. I was tempted to move to Hove, Actually !!
DTC ... you just drive past this place, and it looks dirty, that's the thing. And the BP station up the road is all clean, and the signs are bright, and everything.

sounds like it is Dealer owned and not subject to Shell's usual high standards....I was already suspicious but will pass on some come comments to the head of their dealer 'union' who operates out of Didcot, Oxon, and various other locations in that area,.....
Bit like down here when it comes to the influx of tourists.....mayhem and a good excuse to stay in. Am heading up to Surrey and Kent myself this coming weekend, not, per se, to play tourist!

Sorry, guys ... got distracted.
DTC ... I don't want to get anyone into trouble !
Icey ... It's Broghton, not Crawley. If you're driving out of Brighton, following the London and Gatwick directions, the main bit of Preston Park is on your right ... where they have the bowlong green (It should be called a Bowling "Brown" at the mo ... I think it needs a bit of water, LOL). So, anyway, you go past Preston Park, and just as you get to the end of the park, there's a Shell station on your left.
Don't stop there. It looks really pikey.
ladybirder ... you didn't mention that all our buses are named after prominent locals. I think they should name them after local celebs like Zoe Ball, Norman, or Phil Mogg.
wolfy ... prices are not that bad. You can get a sea front apartment for £600,000. Actually, there are a couple of 2 bed flats for sale in the Van Alen Building for £475,000 (although one of them is on the ground floor).
