I know this is not the right place to ask but as it concerns an engine I thought I would post.
I took my petrol mower out this afternoon, checked the oil and made sure everything was in running order.
When I started it the engine started running very fast, a lot more faster than usual. I stopped it straight away as I am not mechanically minded. Can anyone please give me some advice as to what the problem maybe? I know it's not the throttle jamming open as it closes down as soon as I let the handle go.
The handle is just a brake, so its not the problem. Make sure the throttle cable is free and hasn't slipped in its fastener. Inside the cover there is usually a governor (most look like a little flapper). Sometimes grass and other stuff will get trapped and hold it open.
every chance that the butterfly control has stuck within the carb, has the return throttle spring broken/come off? no doubt if I'm wrong some will criticize my answer as they sometime do!!
lol twr, we are not mind readers and genrally without being able to actually look or touch the problem, every little help is appreciated. i agree with both comments, my personal advive would be like cowtipper, sounds like a sticking or stuck throttle cable, build up of grass/mud etc. TWR keep up your good advice, Regards.
We all try rnchugg, but some cannot get it that WE ALL GET IT WRONG AT TIMES!!!!
