Travelling from Hereford to Talsarnau (Gwynedd). - approx 120 miles
Running a car at 40 MPG with 4 people and luggage.
petrol at £1.39 per litre.
Can somebody work out how much its going to cost as my brain can't handle it! have used google maps to work it out but need a second opinion as not sure if it's very accurate. TIA

What will your average speed be..?
About £19 one way
Question Author
about 60mph.
if you do get 40MPG then it's

(120 / 40) * (1.39 * 4.45400) = 18.57318
Very approximately it's 15 litres of fuel @ £1.39 = £20 more or less not allowing for driving like a nitwit or anything else unusual:)
Around £20 for the 120miles.

thanx for all answers. it looks between 18 - 20, google maps said 26!
£1.39/ litre = £6.32 / gallon.

120 miles @ 40mpg = 3 gallons.

3 x £6.32 = approx £19.
(If the 40mpg figure is for 'driver only' driving, the additional loading might put the cost up to a bit over £20).

It also depends which way you are thinking of going Benny.
