Needs about spent on it. Should I keep it because I LOVE it (it's 17 years old but looks wonderful) or should I be realistic and move on??? :o(

It needs some welding on the suspension spring mountings on both sides, new headlamp units and new break hose. They put on the advisory notice that my exhaust is noisy - cheek! It's supposed to be!!!!!
Oooooh thank you Craft. I will have a look.x
Question Author
Ed, I put pound sign, a five and two zeros. Filter didn't like it.
What does FTO stand for?
cars alot younger than that require alot more than that spent to get it through an MOT!
Question Author
FTO = Fresh Touring Origination

So, you don't think I'd be completely stupid to spend the money and keep it? Thank you.x :o)

Katie - if you like it then spend the £500 - ask yourself what could you buy for that?
And, of course, what would you replace it with? How much would that cost? Would you love it as much?
Hi, if you know the car well, is it reliable? has it given you trouble free motoring for the last few years you have had it? if yes, well its worth the money you said that it needs a few jobs doing, the garage that has quoted you this price is it the one that regular looks after your car? if so try & get them to know down on their repair price if they will not drop get someone else to do the work for you, the welding could cost in the region of a £100, light from a breaker £10, brake hose say £20 with fitting, exhaust depends whats gone, there are after market Exhaust on EBay look at your fail cert & check the lot out.

Thanks everyone. I know five hundred squidlies is nothing - Im just fed up of hearing my "sensible car" owning mates say that I should get a "normal" car (my last car was a Mercedes A Class Zzzzzz). You've all strengthened my decision to get the work done and keep my little wagon.
Eddie - I'll be getting used light units - new ones are ridiculously expensive.

Thanks again.x
I would get the work done, mind you I would have had a GTO or a MR mk2
MR2 Mk2*
