Un-Speeding
I'm curious about something and maybe someone here can enlighten me. Why is it that some people will drive at 40mph in a 60mph zone even if all conditions are fine? I know 60 "is the limit and not the target" but in my opinion 20mph lower than the limit is excessively slow (conditions depending of course). So, I'm intrigued...why?

Re-tests every decade would just be a money spinner for the government, and a king size pain in the rear for the rest of us - especially as we'd be paying. Please don't give them any ideas.
Seems to me that if there were enough police out there actually checking driving then they would be best placed to recommend particular drivers for a re-test.

The worst example of slow driving I ever encountered was on a country road in Somerset, the driver was doing between ten and fifteen MPH along a winding road and every time they came to a blind bend they would move to the right hand side, I assume in an attempt to see if anything was coming. Fortunately there wasn't.

Yes I have cruise control on my latest car and it is strange to have your suspicions confirmed. Folk really do speed up as you approach them from behind, presumably because they ave to undergo the affront to their dignity of being overtaken; and really do overtake you and then slow down once they have pulled back in ahead.
Yesterday I passed someone on the motorway only to find, as soon as they got into my blind spot, they decided they wanted to speed up and undertake me. Irritating though that is, I was even more perplexed a few miles later when I caught up with them again.

They are members of 'the 40 club'. They do 40 in a 30 zone, 40 in national speed limit roads, I believe they also do 40 up their drive into their garage too.
Years ago they tended to drive Fiat Unos. Now they seem to have migrated to the Toyota Yaris.
Not that everyone behind the wheel of an Uno or Yaris was a lug. They just tended to be the sort of car these berks went for.
