Ignoring supercars, & expensive prestige vehicles, are there any cars that are worth buying for the driving satisfaction alone? It doesn't need to be a high performance, sporty, or even that striking, just something that you've found really nice to drive in the real world of everyday motoring and commuting. A car that works with you, not against you.

my Alfa has never broken down, and I've had it for 7 years.
Is it all fixed up yet?!

This will sound a bit daft answering my own question but today I had the privilege of driving an Audi RS2, in the wet. I have never driven anything so beautifully sure footed on wet roads before, even more agile and better balanced than the old original "fire up the quattro" turbo. Any Impreza owners equally impressed with their cars, in the wet of course?
