I have a Corsa Design 55 plate. I'v had since it was 10 months old.

I'v heard People say that their air con broke because they never topped it up.

I have all the handbooks and information that came with the car and I can't find anything apart from how to turn it on/off.

So should I be topping it up? and if so what with?

I'll keep checking back for replies.
Thank You..

a garage can check if its low on gas and top it up if required. its not something you can do. worth shopping around though places like ats/kwikfit etc sometimes offer this

Thank you mccfluff it's no where in the books. I have an ATS near Me.
Most A/C should be serviced every 2 years, it is not just a matter of a "top up"

When it is serviced all the old gas is taken out and new put in also lubricant is put in, all to a measured amount, either weighed or by capacity.

As above it must be done at an A/C garage.
Forgot to add, if you have not had it serviced in 5 years it's a wonder it still works, if you do not switch it on for a few minutes once a month the seals will go dry and need renewing.

Thank you Toureman I knew none of this, it's never been serviced and now makes a noise like a dry scraping sound and I never used it in winter. So I guess I only have Myself to blame.
I'll see if I can get it fixed. Thank you again..
Yes it needs using once a month, even in winter. You can check it and gas it up if needed,I do mine, you need an air con refill which has a gauge on it telling you how much needs to be used to do it.Halfords is around £50.00 including a £10.00 deposit on it.

Thank you mdoo and degger I'v just been on google and I'v read all the replies on here and I'm more mixed up than ever lol (I'm thick when it comes to cars)
It still works fine it makes a scrapping sound and if I have'nt used for a while it smells of curry powder.
Thank you all for replying..
Then go to a garage and get it checked out, if it smells then the filter probably needs changing and more than likely a gas recharge
