Extended Warranty/Mechanical Breakdown Insurance.

My Warranty finishes today on my Car. I can't quite stretch to the 300 quid needed to extend it. Do any insurers in the UK do Mechanical Breakdown Insurance so I can insure myself against the event of a breakdown and hefty garge bill and be able to spread the cost?

There are all sorts of extended warranties available but they are the same as private medical insurance, they never pay out, you'll save a lot of money and avoid a load of hassle by self insuring.
