driving licence expiry date..only 8 years!!

i have just noticed that my driving licence states that it is only valid for 8 years

what happens then? i thought your licence was valid indefinitely...or is it just i have to get a new photocard?

seems a very shor time if so

you have to get a new photocard.
You have to renew when you are 70.
you have to get a new photocard every 10 years

this is only 8 years though...and about 4 months... its not even the same date as i passed...
Did it take about 20 months from date of issue of a provisional photocard licence for you to pass your driving test?

The photo used for a photocard licence must be renewed every 10 years. If you supplied a photo for your provisional licence which was automatically transferred to your full licence the expiry date for the photo will be shorter than the ten year anniversary of the full licence.
I still have paper license...
can i ask please, when you get to 70, do you just apply for a photocard licence, or are medical/doctors records checked etc by dvla, before they issue you your replacement? thank you.

i suppose that could be it abberant...i cant remember really but its such an odd date that must be something like that thanks
