speeding is the biggest cause of car crashes????
36 Answers
whys is it that, it's always speed that causes car crashes, when truly it isnt, yes speeding reduces reaction time, and yes, going around bends faster than physics allow, but, it's never mentioned, that driving dangerously slow, pulling out at crawling speed when there is oncoming, some including that and hesitating and stupid maneuvers is a huge factor, why is that

Speeding is not a cause of accidents. It does contribute however to their likelihood and severity of consequences. If you do not provide yourself time to compensate for the inevitable mistakes of others you are driving beyond your own capabilities.
In spite of popular opinion, no one owns a public road and drivers fast and slow should keep this in mind and drive responsibly.

who says its never mentioned? who are these mythical people to claim speed is always the cause of a crash...?
in almost ALL accidents, there will be some comment that 'he pulled out on me, or he did a bad manouvre' etc...how can you say its never mentioned??
speed on its own doesnt often cause crashes...there usually a car that shouldnt be there...

ive been here, on earth for 39 years TD...and ive heard all those excuses many many times...
you are seriously basing all this on tv ad? really? how about some actual evidence rather than from people trying to sell something?
your 'suggestion' to "warn them not to speed, not everything can be predetermined, but expect the unexpected"...you really think no-one does that now? that is never said? that that is a new concept??
and the point is speeding is never safe...there is always increased risk...no matter how well you are taught
your posts are somewhat erratic and hard to follow

There may be times when speed can get you out of trouble but that doesn't negate the plain fact that speed is more likely to cause trouble and make it more severe. Sure, slow drivers can be a hazard but any kind of decent driver just handles it. 57 years on the road in private and commercial vehicles has taught me this
joko you are missing the point a bit, it has nothing to do with excuses, it is about what drivers should be warned not to do, and no, it is not the new concept, otherwise drivers would be looking where they are going, i never said that speeding is not risky, maybe you should go over the post a few more times, and i am basing this on actual events, iv been around and avoided aswell
but you are not making any point...if your posts made more sense and were well written it would be much easier...maybe you should take a little time to write them ...and also to actually read and comprehend the responses...again your last post made no sense to anything i said...
from what i can fathom - you are claiming that people always blame speed for crashes, when really it is lots of things...and you are claiming that no-body else seems to be aware of that because it is never mentioned...right?
you are also claiming people should be taught what to do and what not to do on the road...as though that doesnt already happen.... right?
well you are wrong on both counts...lots of people mention other things as being the cause of accidents, and people are taught what to do and what not to do and warned not to speed or dither
your 'point' is nonsense.
