Can anyone recommend a good sat nav that will get us from a to b in the UK Has good reception (We have suffered a lot of black pots with the garmin we have at the moment) We are not bothered about Europe . We dont need it to sing or dance just tell us reliably which direction to go.

Very easy to use but I have yet to work out how to download and instal map updates. Driving on a new motorway it thinks I am ploughing a field and then driving into a river, and gets it's knickers in an awful knot.
To be honest, I hate Sat Navs and always find that they come up with the weirdest ways to get to a place. Get a good reliable New Edition map and take your journey using that. Study your route beforehand. Failing that, I always find the AA routefinder is brilliant. It has got me door to door from Central Scotland to Cornwall and many other places without any hitches. You can print off the route and highlight focal points along the way to keep you on the right road..
Well I needed to buy one because hubby was nagging me so I went and took advise at Currys and was recommended the Garmin nuvi 2340 Now I find I cant even register it on the Garmin site as its not listed and when I try to connect it via USB Garmin site says this device is not recognized!! What rubbish. Its going back.
I have a medion, never ever black spots on us. had it for three years, maps out of date ( expensive to update, but I think they all are) but battery lasts for 4 to 5 hours when fully charged and it has a severe warning radio receiver, so if you are heading for a really bad snarl up, it tells you that it is going to re-route you and the map changes and off you go. bought it seconhand on ebay.
I have the Nuvi 1310T.....got a free UK and NI update and a free city explorer for Zurich where I go regularly.....from personal experience it is a beaut.....never lost me yet and knows every Fish and Chip shop in the UK ;-)
Photo real display when you approach a motorway junction and the traffic advice has saved me more than once....and the camera warnings.
If you get off the route then Emily (I think I'm in love :-)) immediately recalculates the route....Way points no problem.....
..............just my choice ..may not be yours...
