I presume the car will start with this key?
Checked the contacts in the fob?
They are pretty reliable key fobs.
When you say it just stopped working do you mean on all of the doors or does it still open the drivers door?
does it need a reprogram ? some vehicles have a specific time to replace the battery over ie, 10-15 seconds
That's why I asked ... PATS.
Albags what does PATS mean?
Passive Anti Theft System

Small proximity chip in key
Sensor in the dash extension wiring around ignition switch, coded to the ECU.
Chip must match ECU code .. or no start.
That's all a bit too technical for me but I was hoping that autobagger might have answered my question as if the key will open the drivers door but not automatically open the others it's because the Fusion has a security setting that does this.
I think he would have mentioned it.
The remote operates an integral 'Up/Down' control in the electrics, which sends a signal to all central locking motors (doors, tailgate, petrol flap) so if one was working, they all would be (unless an odd one fails)

sorry everyone had a small problem to sort, yes my key opens all doors.the battery was changed by fords in about 20 seconds, car starts noproblem .just my remote will not work !!

ps forgot to say when i use my key to lock my car the lights flash as normal ,like they have always done.
I suggest you check your handbook to see what it says about reprogramming your key. The battery may have been changed in about 20 seconds but if it was as dead as some doo doos for a while before that, then thay may be the cause of your strife.

If it's anything like the GM process it should be easy to do yourself if you find and follow the steps in your handbook.
i worked for a while in a Ford dealer parts dept, we would sell keyfob batteries but we refused to change them due to the implications of getting it wrong.
Also the amount of customers who would turn up with the fob in bits waiting to purchase a battery, obviously not read the hand book !!!
