Peugeot 206 Car Fault Question?

I have a Peugeot 206 W reg that has done about 62000 miles.  I am getting a vibration from the engine, a lack of power and there seems to be road noise.  Also the exaust vibrates and makes noise when i pull away in first or accelerate in most if not all gears.

I have checked the tires and had them replaced, had the suspension checked and had the bushes checked.

I must add that 2 days ago the problem corrected itself for an afternoon while i was driving home.  I drove into a car park applied the breaks and had my foot on the clutch and as i was coming to a stop i heard a thud that came from the front of the car as if i had hit something.  Afterwards the noise from the exaust had gone, the vibration from the engine had gone and I had more power in the accelerator and the power steering was easier to turn.

Can anyone help or advise me of what this might be?

I would get the engine mountings checked. The engine may be physically moving on it's mountings, and if it moves towards the bulkead between the driver and engine, the accelerator cable will have some slack in it and that could cause a loss of power. The exhaust system would also be put under strain from the manifold downwards. Extra noise whilst driving could be caused by the engine vibrating around. When you stopped and the fault corrected itself, the engine may have moved forwards on it's mountings to the proper position. I'm not saying that this is definitely the fault, but I would suggest that it's a good place to start. Just check the tightness of the bolts and the condition of the rubber bushes first, also for any corrosion in these areas. Good luck.

I agree with Mortartube. A broken or loose engine mounting would be my guess. Not difficult or expensive to rectify. Good luck.
