Could any mechanics out there possibly give me a rough guide as to how much a new cambelt plus fitting would cost on a 97 polo. Also what kind of trade in price would I get for it? Its in good nick and only got 55 odd thousand on the clock. How much would I be looking at for a 98ish MGF? Sorry for all the Q's.

probably around 700 quid maybe 50-100 more!?

I happen to have an N reg "pistachio green" (the really hideous shade!) polo done 126,000 (now, it had about 124k when this happened) which when bought through the trade from an Audi dealer (the previous owner traded it in for an A3) they gave approx 700 for.

Unfortunately at that age the mileage makes little difference.

If you get more than a grand for it, it's a pretty good guess that the dealer have a nice wedge (profit) in the MGF...

so would I be better off selling the polo privately and then using the money for that towards an MGF? I'min buckinghamshire as well, by the way.
