If I had a 50cc moped which was restricted could I fit an exhaust to make it a bit faster? And could I do this myself, Is it easy to do?

Thanks in advance.

If it was a two stroke, fitting an expansion chamber type end can would certainly make it louder, and that might make it feel faster! swapping an exhaust is a home mechanic type job, if you have the right spanners.  But in reality, a new zorst on its own will never make much difference to the performance of a moped. If the restriction is a washer at the top of the header pipe, which it often is, removing this will help a bit, plus you could add a free'er flowing air filter to help gas flow, but as all this would effectively remove its 'restricted'status, you would have to tell your insurer. You would also need to be careful that you dont weaken the mixture too much by doing this, resulting in a holed piston and a big bill. And it still wont be an R1 though!
