Hi, the coolant light on my Seat Leon petrol comes on when i first start the car from cold in the mornings, if i drive for 5 mins the temp gauge goes to normal then if i stop and start the car again the light does not come on,

i have checked the coolant levels etc and all is well the car is running fine

any idea why the light comes on first thing?

Probably the coolant level sensor is a bit sticky, in the coolant expansion tank ( where you top it up ) there is a level sensor, they are electronic.

It's probably a safety feature to let you know that the temperature warning system is operating. The red temperature warning light on my Golf flashes three or four times when starting from cold for that very reason. Seat's are now owned by VW and Seat cars are basically re-badged VWs so the electrical systems will be very similar.
