Campers- VW or otherwise...
Hi My fiance and I are looking to buy a camper van, preferably full of character but as reliable as possible to explore the U.K. I am practical, but certainly no mechanic. Any advice? Thank you

Pop into WH Smiths and buy a copy of Practical Motorhome or MMM - if you can afford it and you want a VW get the T4 - they're cheap, watercooled, they offer a viable diesel engine (35mpg+ without being too slow) and the most reliable and modern second hand VW van.
Cheapest conversion firms you'll find are Holdsworth, LeisureDrive, NuVenture etc - AutoSleeper, Reimo and Bilbo are probably the best VW converters but they cost more.
As I say, your best bet's probably to nip into WH Smiths and grab a copy of MMM or Practical Motorhome, there's often good advice in there and some adverts for dealers. Motorhome dealers on the whole aren't quite as evil as car dealers.
Good luck!
