On my ford focus (1999) model. The idle revs are very low i have been told this is due to my new performance air filter. I have also been told that you can reset your ecu by leaving your car running idle for a few minutes then run it on a certain amount of revs for a few minutes. If this is true do you know more about it.

Thanks chris

To reset the ECU, you need to remove power to it. This can be done by removing the correct fuse, or taking the easy way out and just disconnecting the battery. Leave it disconnected for a few minutes to discharge all the circuits. The car will run strangely for the first few miles after reconnection while the ECU re-learns it's settings.
