Just had a new clutch fitted to my car from last year. Only recently I found out the clutch pedal is loose and needs abit of travel to depress down. Today, driving in the cold weather, the clutch pedal feels abit slow returning (popping back). Does it need re-adjusting?

Is the clutch a cable operated one or is it an hydraulically operated one. If it is a cable operated clutch then the cable may need adjustment or replacing if it is stretched, if it is a hydraulically operated clutch then it is highly likely that air has got into the system and may need to be bled ( to get rid of the air ) or the clutch master or slave cylinder is faulty, or possibly a broken clutch release bearing or fork, or a broken diaphragm spring in the clutch pressure plate.
Have you been driving through puddles or the likes? water may have got onto the cable & frozen, effecting the cable's motion.

Thank you for the replies. These will give me some ideas where the problem lies.
Model of car, if cable, look under the bonnet at the rear of the bellhousing where ( If) the cable goes into the box, Sray WD40 on the cable itself NOT INTO the box.
What Car ????

@TWR Had a new cable fitted. Should have catch your answer earlier which probably saved me 150 pound for a new cable.

@Toureman it's a Suzuki Ignis
What was the problem with your old clutch cable, Beswad ?.
Beswad, when last year did the replace the clutch? whoever changed that should have noticed or suggested at that time to replace the Cable, If I have it right, new Clutch / Pressure Plate/Thrust Bearing, leaving the old cable? that is bad service, who did the job? was it a reputable garage? if so, go back & vice a complaint.

@tonyav The clutch was slipping @ 32k miles.

@TWR I bought a new clutch independantly and asked the garage to fitted for me, only because their labour charge was reasonable. They did the job without advising me about the clutch cable, only mentioned the brake pads needs replacing but when my MOT was due, I took to Kwik Fit, it passed and they said the brake pads was fine.

I took it back to the garage that fitted the new clutch and they charged me 150 pounds together with an engine diagnostic because of lambda sensor is faulty. Now I need to fork out for a new sensor. This time I'm going to DIY this job myself.
Is your engine management light on, Beswad. ?
How long back Beswad? I would Question this.

@tonyav Yeah, the engine warning light just came on yesterday. The garage did a diagnostic on it for 20 pounds. They said the lamdba sensor was faulty.

@TWR That was last year June. I guess the work gurantee is well over - if any.
