Could I ask ALL driviers to turn please their headlights, not sidlights but headlights, on in murky weather conditions.

It is truly amazing the number of drivers who don't.

Some of the cars in question are modern cars with auto lights which wont activate in fog.The dash lights up and the driver is oblivious to the situation...so SWITCH TO MANUAL!!

I've got LED lights (DRLs) on my Audi, and the OHs Beemer has Angel eyes (think that's what they're called)

Yes Baldric they are called angel eyes on a Beemer.

That's now the law in Germany, Denmark and the Whole of Scandinavia, both for ALL new cars, and dipped headlights for ALL old cars (without daytime running lights), with Signage on all border crossings.

You MUST
ensure all sidelights and rear registration plate lights are lit between sunset and sunrise
use headlights at night, except on a road which has lit street lighting. These roads are generally restricted to a speed limit of 30 mph (48 km/h) unless otherwise specified
use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226).

Night (the hours of darkness) is defined as the period between half an hour after sunset and half an hour before sunrise).
Laws RVLR regs 3, 24, & 25, (In Scotland - RTRA 1984 sect 82 (as amended by NRSWA, para 59 of sched 8))

Therefore in built up areas, 30mph limit, with street lighting it is not necessary to use dipped headlights or those infernal 'driving' lights.

Thanks for pointing that out BS. I've a Focus Titanium with auto lights, and they're ok, but I must admit I've never had to drive in fog since I've had it so I'll have to keep an eye on it if I get caught out in fog.
