Was The Referee Right?
In a Dutch Cup, (not cap) tie between AZ Alkmaar and Den Bosch, the referee took the players off the pitch when the racist abuse of ex Hull City striker Jozy Altidore persisted.

I support his attempt insofar as he is actually doing something, unlike UEFA's namby pamby attempts to deal with this scourge, but I am not sure it is the right way to go as it punishes the many innocent fans, including the travelling AZ fans, whose side was 4-0 up at the time.
Altidore persuaded the referee to resume the game and he also showed remarkable dignity with his after match comments. Surely it would be better to close the relevant area of the ground? Better still, I was able to see quite clearly who the perpetrators were on telly, so Dutch police couild surely do the same?
