speeding sp20 transit van 62mph /campervan

hello can any help

Received a speeding ticket a sp20. Was caught doing 62 on a 60mph road but i was in a transit so the speed limit would of been 50 so i was going 12mph over. i was driveing a transit van. The ? is can i declare to the ticket people the van is a camper van and has a bed and a sink fitted so it is not a commerical vehicle. So i would be in the private light goods vehicle class and i would then would of only being going 2 mph over and the ticket should not of been issued. ?

The speed regulations apply to the type of vehicle, not to the use to which put it. The same would apply if you bought a bus and kitted it out as a mobile home; you would still be subject to the speed restrictions for that sort of vehicle.

it would be fraud as well if u got caught.

So u cant drive a transit van at 60 in a 60 then? no one told me that when i was driving one! guess i was lucky!

The registration document shows the vehicle class. If the van has been modified you should have telt the DVLA but from what you write, you haven't. I would say then, you were 12 miles over the limit.

As far as I am aware a Transit, in any form, is subject to the same speed limits as a car. Could your speedo be inaccurate? If so you could have been doing ,say, 66 and got a ticket for that reason

You can try but the way I read it you're admitting to exceeding the limit either way.  Our police always give you the option of going to court and arguing your case but can you see yourself winning?

our police offer a speeding seminar and small fine as opposed to actual points but u can only attend the once, and then if u get done again it is straight points!

Check the laden weight of the transit in question.

Delivery vans up to 2 tonnes in weight can go up to 60mph on a single carriageway (national speed limit area) - in fact goods vehicles up to 2 tonnes have the same restrictions as cars

any comercial vehcle that is not a car derived van is subject to the lower speed limits ie. 50 in a 60
