One of my bug bears I suppose but I'm old school, trained to cycle on the road properly and obey road rules etc. Anyway the other day I was walking home and some numpty on a bike got right up behind and rang his bell. I did not move at all and after a bit more ringing I turned around and pointed out the road about 2 feet to his left and said "get on the road, why are you on the pavement?" - Here's the good bit, he said and I kid ye not, it was less dangerous to pedestrians if he cycles on the pavement that it is to cyclists to cycle on the road - I've only just stopped ranting! How has it got to the stage now where most cyclists think that cycling on the pavement is ok? Dropping the kerbs at the corners hasn't helped here either.

DangerUXD - just as well you said that. I was about to set my ferrets and whippets on you
DangerUXD, you sound like someone who just moans for a living. You remind me of a nosy neighbor.
Don't worry about what other people do, and just you stick to riding on the roads and I hope you never have the misfortune of being knocked down by a car....

"your arrogance and ignorance put you and your child in danger"

We're riding on the pavements of a seaside town, not central London. Get a grip!

" I suspect you are determined to be illegal and unsafe."

Yeah, that's me. I'm one crazy cat. Check this out too... I don't even wear a helmet! Woooooah!

" I just hope you live oop north somewhere!"

Er... that'll be a no.

I don't moan for a living, I posted a thread on legitimate subject for discussion.
What Im really trying to say is if everyone were just more considerate of others whether it be on a pavements or road, the world would be a better place (probably) Its the same with the mobility scooters. Should they be on the pavement or road ? Cos they can be a menace too !!
Ive even been yelled at by motorists when Ive glared at them for nearly knocking me over "You cyclists should pay road tax !!! " What has that to do with anything and as it happens, our household pays 2 lots of roadtax each year but we dont always use the car wherever we go. Some motorists think they have power over everyone when they are on the road !!
Sorry.Wrong end of the stick.Yes I agree it's good news.Thought you meant the cyclists were fighting back .
I was knocked off my bike on my way home from school. If I'd been riding on the pavement it wouldn't have happened.
"I live South I was just hoping that Madmen was some distance away, that's all."

Bad luck.
If you "pointed out the road about 2 feet to the left" to me, and said "get on the road" I would tell you to get a life...
What is the point of riding a bike on the pavement?

You want to get wherever you are going, quicker than you would if you had to walk. Why put yourself among people who are going slower than you? It defeats the object of riding doesn't it?
"hopfully the fight back has started."

Not sure about that. I rode past a PCSO (or whatever they're called) and he just said hello.
My late (and very deaf) mum was clipped by a cyclist on a pavement. She fell and broke her wrist. The cyclist carried on without stopping.
If I had been cycling on the pavement when all the kids were coming out of school and knocked into one of them, I probably would have been in trouble yet their parents are parking in MY cycle lane part of the road
I would NEVER hasve driven into your poor Mum Mrs. O. Thats awful
I've seen about 5 people walk past my house today. Seen loads of cars and vans. I think I'd be safer on the pavement.
I don't mind cyclists on pavement...as long as they are under the age of 5 and have stabilisers on their bikes

It's amazing how angry people get when you make them realise how wrong they are.
Can one of you "pavement cyclists" answer my question please?
My point exactly, Ummmm. I suppose it depends on where you live.
The OP must live in a very busy area, with lots of rude and angry people riding around on the pavements, on their bikes!

dangeruxd, I can promise you I am not "angry". I am actually laughing at how "frustrated" you clearly get, so easily.
^^^^^^ Anyone???
