ford escort 1998 si 1.6

my escorts engine cuts out when I slow to to stop at junctions and traffic lights otherwise it runs ok.what is the cause of this problem? it restarts without a problem but is a pain at the moment

i had that problem on my escort 1.6 finesse if you rev it and i cuts out then it could be the idle valve if not 1 of the air sensor our not lettin enough air in it cost me �145.95 to fix. try not to get the ford main dealer cause they charge �55.00 ph hope that help
