Hot Water To Bath Running Cold

The hot water to my bath is running cold. I have a combi boiler with no other hot water problems. It used to be absolutely fine. When I run the hot water, it runs luke warm, if I run the hot water to the basin after I try the bath tap, it's really hot, as if the hot water has backed up into the basin tap. Someone mentioned the diverter valve in the boiler but I just don't know. Plumbers seem to think there's nothing wrong with the pipe work. Any suggestions?

What kind of bath taps do you have jmck?
Question Author
Builder, they're mixer taps - is that enough info?
Mine does this too. I have to lessen the flow from the hot tap, ie, not run it as fast and for some odd reason this makes it piping hot.

I'm sure it's a 'small' problem that needs to be fixed by a professional, but so far ive not called anyone out to it.
Sorry I've only just picked up your reply jmck.

I was wondering if it was mixer taps. A problem with a diverter valve will affect ALL hot outlets. Quite logical if you think about it. It's all 15mm pipework with a combi, so I'd rule out any flow problems.

I would say the mixer tap is faulty, allowing cold water to cross over to the hot side. Perhaps it's a "cartridge" type. The cartridge could need replacing. Either that, or treat yourself to some new taps.
