Lost In The Car Park

We attended a large country show at the weekend and as usual we couldn't find our car in the car park when we came out. I noticed some other cars had long poles attached atop of which was attached a large flag or similar thus identifying the car from way off. What are these things called and where can I get one?

I don't know the answer to that but I know a method some use is to set the parking location on the sat nav and then take their sat nav with them into the show. They can then use it to find their car later. Some phones may have a similar facility
Another idea - have you got a sat nav?

When you get out, save the location in your favourites.
there are loads of apps for this, if you have a smartphone
^ more proof that men will go out of their way to avoid asking for directions!
how do you ask for directions to your own car?
Who would you ask then, Prudie?

I don't have a smartphone and would want to use it on the caravan as well so the grandchildren could identify where we are.
It was not about the car park obviously! Just a light hearted observation that 2 males had immediate tips to hand on finding their way about with a sat nav.
(you are right of course, Prudie)
>>>as usual we couldn't find our car in the car park when we came out.

Don't you mean "as usual we forgot to make a note of where we parked so could not find the car when we came out".
A friend has a small mickey mouse head on the radio aerial, and it can be seen at a distance.

You can't "make a note" of where you put your car in the middle of thousands in a huge open field which has no landmarks because everything has changed when you go home, more cars have come, some have gone etc
I've seen people tie balloons to their aerial. Easy enough to keep a few in the glove box - and a bit string too!
Question Author
Balloons sound like a good idea but I would really like to get a tall pole with a windsock or colourful flag on it. Where do I get one of these?
thats only the mount - you would still have to buy the pole and flag

You could try googling,

'army surplus tank aerials'
By the way, I agree with you xvbn, it is really easy to loose your car at a show! You park in the middle of 5,000 other cars in a 50 acre field with no visual markers and hope and pray you stumble across your own car 6 hours later!
Just go to any DIY store and buy a decorator's extension pole, such as this one:

Then make your own pennant (or fly a jumbo-sized pair of polka dot bloomers from it, if you want to!) and contrive a way to fix it to the car. e.g. by leaving the pole poking out from the sunroof.
