Hi.I saw an ad in a national newspaper motoring section the other day advertising a product called Extralube ZX1. Has anyone tried it and has it made any difference to engine performance or is it just another con as a lot of these products seem to be?.

There are lots of positive reviews for this stuff on Amazon and Halfords websites. All of them are, necessarily, subjective! Claims are similar to molybdenum compounds (Molyslip etc.) from decades ago.
The oil recommended for my new car is quite expensive enough, thank you - I'd hate to invalidate a five-year warranty!
Cannot say I have heard of it. Wonder if it is similar (and as good) as RedX? Not that I have seen that in decades. It used to be 1d a shot - those were the days.
mier: redX was added to petrol. This stuff is an oil additive.
Indeed it is, but RedX was also meant to add to a car's performance. Just my observation.
A few customer reviews here, make your own mind up.
